Since the company's founding in 2010, our artists have been refining a collaborative process of theatrical development through a series of workshops dedicated to the deconstruction of a classical text or canonical theatrical practice, and the eventual reconstruction of the material in play based on the ensemble's findings and discoveries. This process of altering our known perceptions of theatrical works and traditions has led to the creation of each of our mainstage productions.

Through a dedicated training intensive led by Artistic Director John Kurzynowski, chemis|TRE participants are taken through this process alongside frequent members of the ensemble, resulting in an exploration of our company's unique take on collaboratively generating material. Geared towards a wide range of theatrical artists, this intensive offers tools for actors, directors, designers and playwrights looking to further expand their notions of theatrical practice as a means of investigation and exploration.

The chemis|TRE intensive was formed in 2014. Past participants include Ali Andre Ali, Ian Axness, Jake Beckhard, Emma Clark, Erin Daley, Cary Gitter, Lindsay Griffin, John Gutierrez, Ryan Hudak, Ben Katz, Andrew Lorimer, Julia Levine, Grace McLean, Gili Nir, Ryan Pater, Piper Patterson, Nathaniel Peart, Linh Valerie Pham, Linda Tardif, Zachary Tomlinson, James Wyrwicz, and Marielle Young.

chemis|TRE is a yearly training intensive dedicated to TRE's process of creative collaboration. Applications for the 2016 intensive are no longer being accepted. Please check back in the spring of 2017 for more information regarding next season's intensive.
